Electrical Heating Installation & Repair
We supply and install tailored electric heating systems to replace inefficient or undesirable systems. This can reduce heating costs with a system that is tailored to your lifestyle and home. All of our electric heating installation work is undertaken by electricians with extensive experience and all of the necessary qualifications to carry out the job to the the very highest standard. We will work closely with you to establish exactly how you want your new heating system to be laid out and walk you through how to use it once installation is complete.
Deciding if you should go electric?
Increasing in popularity due to the advances in technology and design in recent years, electric heating systems look better than ever before, as well as being efficient in their energy use. Electricity is a 100% efficient fuel so that every unit of energy put into a radiator will result in an equal unit of heat. There’s no need to ignite a fuel, so there is no additional release of dirty gases or particles.
-
Electric heating is extremely flexible, inexpensive, simple to install, and fully controllable.
-
Electric heating technology is modular, meaning you have the ability to divide your home into various heating rooms or zones that can have different heating settings independent of each other.
-
Modern electric radiators are designed to react very quickly to changes in room temperature that are monitored accurately. This ensures you maintain a comfortable heat at all times, reducing energy consumption as the system turns off when the desired heat has been reached.
What are the benefits of electric heating?
-
Cost-Effective - Installed at little expense, electric heating is easy to use and fully controllable. The technology lets you split your home into zones that are heated independently according to requirements.
-
Looks Great - The advances in electric heating technology over the past few years mean they are an aesthetically pleasing choice that mean you don’t have to compromise on style.
-
Energy-Efficient - A 100% efficient heating system that converts all electricity into heat for your home. A gas boiler wastes energy via the flue, throwing away your money.
-
Flexible - Having an electric heating system gives you flexibility to design your home as you please without being restricted by the placement of heaters.
-
Custom Design - Each individual electric radiator can be controlled or programmed so each room can be heated to ensure you have a cosy living room without wasting energy heating a small bathroom at all times.
-
Reactive - An electric heating system is highly responsive to any changes in room temperature to ensure you are comfortable at all times, as well as reducing energy consumption when the heaters are not required.
Electric Radiators
We install the latest in electric wall mounted radiators that include fully integrated timer controls and Wi-Fi connectivity (available on some models) that allow you to control your heater directly from your phone.
We fit a variety of manufacturers and models of heater to deliver a custom heating system that will fulfil your personal requirements.
Types of heater fitted:
-
Convention – traditional
-
Convection – rapid warm up
-
Clay core
-
Oil filled
All wall mounted heaters can be conveniently placed around your home (reduced height models are available for under windows/ conservatories). Either next to existing sockets for power supply, with no need for extra cabling, or we can install new wiring at a convenient location.
Electric Towel Rails
There really is no better feeling than wrapping yourself in a warm, dry towel when you step out of the bath or shower.
Electric towel rails are a great solution if your bathroom isn’t connected to your central heating system. Rather than extending the pipework into your bathroom, you can simply connect a towel radiator to your mains electric supply.
Electric towel rails also offer you flexibility. As they aren’t connected to your central heating, you can power up an electric towel radiator in the summer to dry your towels rather than turning on your entire system for one radiator, which is inefficient.
Night Storage Heaters
Storage heaters work by storing heat generated by cheap off-peak electricity and releasing this heat during the day
Most storage heaters are wall-mounted and look a bit like radiators. They work by drawing electricity over the course of a few hours at night, and storing it as heat in a ‘bank’ of ceramic bricks to use the following day. The advantage is that they can consume electricity at night/off-peak, when it’s cheap, and release their heat many hours later.
High heat retention storage heaters
The most efficient modern storage heaters are called ‘high heat retention storage heaters’, and are up to 27% cheaper to run than standard storage heaters. In addition to the features of other modern storage heaters, these models achieve even better heat retention and are able to estimate the next day’s heating demand based on user heating habits and climatic conditions (meaning you do not need to worry about adjusting input settings). High heat retention models include Quantum heaters (from Dimplex/Creda and Heatstore).
Garden and Patio Heating
How do they work?
Electric patio heaters are able to create instant heat using specialised bulbs. They’re a bit like a scaled-up household light except these products have a far higher output and use different filaments, like carbon fibre or tungsten, to create more heat. These filaments reach ultra-high temperatures to produce a strong form of infrared and become so hot that they glow brightly – a handy extra light source when you’re using your patio heater in the evenings. Electric patio heaters are effective outdoors because their vigorous infrared isn’t affected by air movement, so even when you’re sat outside, heat isn’t blown away. They direct their warmth to whatever they’re pointed at and make great spot heating solutions for patios, gardens and alfresco dining areas.
Main advantages
-
They provide instant heat with no messy or time-consuming preparation needed.
-
No annual gas safety checks are required – these all-electric solutions are extremely low maintenance.
-
100% of the energy they draw is converted into heat, unlike fuel burning patio heating options.
-
They offer much greater freedom of placement with wall and ceiling mounted fittings. Some can even be used free-standing or attached beneath awnings.
Infrared Heating
The efficient, greener and comfortable heating system. Infrared panel heaters provide energy efficient, discreet heating and are highly versatile. They can be installed on walls or ceilings and are ideal for bedrooms and living areas.
Unlike 'normal' convection heating, infrared warms the surfaces and the people in the room first. This is more efficient and more natural, as it replicates how we feel when we're in the sun.
Are your electric heaters Lot 20 compliant?
All of our electric heaters are compliant with EU Ecodesign regulations which came into force in January 2018. These regulations – known as Lot 20 within the industry – ensure that electric space heaters are brought up to a higher standard of efficiency, making it easier for customers to find products that minimise energy usage.
The information below displays the minimum requirement for products to be Lot 20 compliant:
Portable heaters
-
Mechanical thermostat
Fixed heaters
(e.g. electric radiators, infrared panels)
-
